Keynote Speaker

With over 20 years in high-performance sport and science, I’ve learned that the real magic happens when ideas are shared. I speak on topics like training, recovery, data, leadership, and innovation—bridging the worlds of elite sport and everyday performance.

Whether it’s a room full of athletes or coaches, I aim to spark curiosity, challenge assumptions, and leave the audience with something useful to apply.

If you're looking for an evidence-based talk with a human edge, let's talk.

In-Depth Conversations

As a world-renowned expert at the intersection of sports science and elite performance, I bring a unique, multi-faceted perspective to the world of endurance sport. As a researcher, professor, and high-performance athlete, I’ve had the opportunity to translate deep academic knowledge and hands-on experience into game-changing strategies that are helping reshape the field.

High Intensity Interval Training

My work explores how the precise manipulation of interval intensity, duration, and recovery can optimize cardiovascular, metabolic, and neuromuscular adaptations. These frameworks are now used by coaches and high-performance teams around the world to integrate HIIT into sport-specific training cycles with measurable results.

Endurance training

My research has helped redefine what’s possible for highly trained endurance athletes. I’ve shown that improvements in VO₂max and competitive performance can be achieved through targeted interval work—not just by increasing training volume. I also promote use of Anaerobic Speed/Power Reserve concept, a breakthrough method for personalizing training based on individual athlete profiling.

Thermal physiology

By integrating environmental and physiological stressors into performance models, I’ve worked to advance our understanding of how heat, climate, and other external factors interact with training and nutrition. This work has helped guide teams in adapting to challenging environments—crucial for events ranging from desert ultramarathons to Olympic triathlons.

Nutrition

As lead investigator in multiple clinical trials, I’ve explored the interaction between diet and exercise, with a focus on very low-carbohydrate, high-fat (VLCHF) diets. My findings show that VLCHF nutrition—on its own or combined with HIIT—can significantly reduce visceral fat, alter fuel utilization, and preserve high-intensity capacity. These results have influenced athlete nutrition strategies from grassroots programs all the way to the Olympic level.
